I offer both in-person and virtual options. In-person sessions are held in my at-home classroom in Elgin, near Randall and Bowes Rd. For virtual sessions, the integrity of the Orton-Gillingham method will not be lost in our engaging online format.

That is completely dependent on the specific needs of your child! Typically, I recommend once per week to prevent the “summer slide”, twice to make some progress, or 3+ sessions per week to allow for significant strides forward.

Not a problem! I have 10+ years of experience working with all types of learners. I include multiple 1-2 minute brain breaks in my sessions to break up the hour. Plus, I like to get creative and get the kids moving while completing different tasks.

Sessions begin with a 15-minute warm-up by reviewing previously taught skills and concepts. I then focus the majority of the time on the new skill your child is learning, including reading and spelling. I end each session with a “sight word” or two by using a multi-sensory approach that maps each tricky word into your child’s brain rather than focusing on rote memorization.

Glad you asked! I have 12+ years of tutoring experience and 9 years of teaching experience in the elementary classroom. I’ve received my Masters in Literacy and have been trained in Orton-Gillingham through the Institute for Multi-sensory Education. I also have 30+ hours of training on science of reading strategies.
